Pheasant release 2012

This past April we bought 85 baby Pheasants from the Wildlife Council  to raise and  release on the farm. We ended up raising 65 up to a point that they could be released. We are hoping that by adding a few birds to the farms perfect habitat they will start reproducing on their own. We have seen a few mature adult male birds but no females. It has been a very rewarding experience and something we will be doing every year. Well the date finally came to release the birds. I went out and released them in a few prime areas where there was water and good cover . It was very cool to see the birds get loft for the first time and fly off. It was kind of sad to see them go, but its been fun watching them grow up. I hope some of them make it and they all don’t become Coyote food LOL. I want to thank my Mom and Dan for allowing the birds to live at their house and for the help in raising them.
